Dr. David Spittal, president of Southern Wesleyan University, expresses appreciation for the work of the Women and Children Succeeding program a luncheon Sept. 17 at Founders' Hall on the university's campus in Central, S.C. Seated, left of Spittal, is Kristi King-Brock, executive director of Anderson Interfaith Ministries which administers WACS.
At the luncheon, WACS participants shared testimonials of how the program has helped them attain educational and career goals despite overwhelming challenges. Program participants receive funding for child care while attending college. In return, they provide community service hours and are required to meet strict academic and behavioral guidelines. Women and Children Succeeding began in Anderson County and is expanding to Pickens and Oconee counties.
