SWU wins communications awards

    The Association for Women in Communications is an international professional organization that champions the advancement of women across all communications disciplines. The Matrix Awards competition is open to all professional communicators in the Upstate of South Carolina.

    Southern Wesleyan University’s Public Relations Department received four awards at a banquet May 23. The Greenville Chapter of the Association for Women in Communications presented the awards. Janelle Beamer, the university’s director of public relations, won a Matrix Award for her story, “‘Lost Boy’ finds way to Southern Wesleyan University” and a Matrix Award for Focus magazine in the Most Improved Magazine category. The university also received certificates of achievement in the categories of Web Page – Overall Design for www.swu.edu and Best Overall External Magazine for Focus magazine.
