University’s street fair to showcase local businesses

New Southern Wesleyan University students get acquainted with local products, services and organizations during a 2009 street fair, held at the start of the new academic year on the campus in Central.

Southern Wesleyan University will kick off a new academic year with outdoor fun and a chance for students to find out about local products and services.

The street fair will take place 4:30-6:30 p.m. Aug. 17 in Founders' Hall on Southern Wesleyan’s campus in Central.

For area businesses and organizations, the street fair is an excellent way to connect with students as they enjoy games, live music and food. The Office of Student Activities anticipates about 400 new and returning students to attend the event.

While booths can be reserved for free, the Office of Student Activities at Southern Wesleyan University is asking each vendor to make a minimum check donation of $25 to Camp Hope, located in Clemson, which is dedicated to people with special needs and their families. This request is optional and Southern Wesleyan University doesn’t receive any portion of these funds.

Vendors will be provided a table with two chairs. Electricity will be available for vendors if needed.

For details or to reserve a table, please contact Chris Collins by e-mailing or calling (864) 644-5123 by Monday, Aug. 16.
