Communication major follows God’s call to attend SWU

Nickie Heerschap
Nickie Heerschap,
Communication major

"I fell in love with Southern Wesleyan University the first time I came to campus.

I was a sophomore in high school and was a member of a Wesleyan youth group. I had never heard of SWU until the youth group came to visit the campus for a CRAVE weekend, but the moment we drove into the parking lot, I felt like this was the college for me. I tried to fight it by looking into other schools, but God kept showing me this was the school He wanted me to attend."

Careers

Employers need workers who

  • have good “people skills”
  • can do thorough research
  • write clearly and accurately
  • interpret trends and solve problems
  • speak well in public
  • represent the company with poise
  • can make sense out of a pile of gathered words and numbers
  • design web pages free from embarrassing errors and
  • are adaptable and willing to explore new approaches

In other words, they need people who have the skills of Communication, English, and History majors.
