New book on evangelical media features SWU professor

Creasman

SWU communication professor Dr. Paul Creasman is among a group of scholars nationwide who contributed to “Understanding Evangelical Media: The Changing Face of Christian Communication,” a new book published by InterVarsity Press. In the book, Creasman explained why younger evangelicals are tuning out traditional Christian radio stations and are tuning in podcasts, recorded music and online evangelical radio stations. He added that many younger evangelicals believe that the clear-cut Christian versus secular dichotomy, so prevalent in modern media, is unworkable for the church as youth flock to mainstream music groups, such as U2. In order to survive in the new evangelical world, Creasman contends that evangelical radio might even have to reinvent itself “from the outside in, rather than inside out.”
