Pre-Med and Pre-Dentistry
On September 26, 2001, the SWU faculty approved majors in pre-medicine and pre-dentistry, thus making official what has long been true, namely that students who take the B. S. in biology have met all the requirements of almost all the medical schools in the U. S. A number of students with this major have been successful in entering medical schools. The same applies to entering dental schools. SWU graduates with majors in chemistry and psychology have also been admitted to medical schools, and the student above is our first history major so admitted.

Admission to medical or dental school does not depend on a specific major. These schools require certain courses, and admission is based on grades in these courses, on scores on the Medical College Admission Test, on the student's experiences, and on interviews.
