We recommend that students gain practical work experience related to the proposed field of study. The students should inform the health professions advisor as to the school(s) they hope to enter, and check that school's publications for other requirements. Medical and dental schools do not specify an undergradate major. They require admission tests, and usually have specific course requirements, but no sequence of courses will guarantee acceptance. Southern Wesleyan University graduates majroing in biology, chemistry, and psychology have been accepted to medical or dental schools.

The curriculum above includes all the course requirements for almost all medical and dental schools. Duke requires more calculus. Some schools may require CHEM 3404, Inorganic Analysis.

*For Pre-Med/Pre-Dent majors, Calculus I meets the math general graduation requirement, General Chemistry meets the science general graduation requirement. See also the other general graduation requirements.
