Jenni Pipkin Clay
Bachelor of science in early childhood education
Seneca, S.C.
Oconee County Teacher of Year
inspired by her professors
Jenni Clay passes on her enthusiasm for learning to her students at Orchard Park Elementary School in Westminster.
“Our classroom is our family at school. We treat everybody with love and respect. We make sure students know they are important. I believe all kids can learn, just in different ways,” Jenni said.
The professors at Southern Wesleyan University inspired her with their enthusiasm for education. Southern Wesleyan’s Christian atmosphere, Jenni said, kept her grounded throughout college. As she developed relationships with friends and others at SWU, it didn’t take long for Jenni to feel a sense of belonging.
“There is a sense of community where people are there to turn to if you’re having a problem, and they will celebrate with you in your accomplishments.”
Jenni, who has taught nearly five years at Orchard Park, was recently named Teacher of the Year for the School District of Oconee County. She also received Teacher of the Year honors at her school.
