Feeling accepted,
following God's call
“The faculty and staff here at SWU are wonderful. While they are concerned and set high expectations for students academically, they ultimately want to know how we are doing spiritually. As a freshman coming in from public school, I find that it's an amazing difference to have to teachers pray for you at the beginning of every class or to have devotions offered.
After moving right before my junior year of high school to a new school, it was hard to feel accepted. While my sister attended here and as I would come to visit, I could see how open, friendly and accepting the campus seemed. Because of it being a smaller university, there are greater opportunities to be involved. Some of the organizations I have been involved with are Student Government, Sigma Delta, and Ambassadors.
Even though my dad is a Wesleyan pastor and many of my family members have come to SWU, I wanted it to be a decision between me and God. I began praying about it around my junior year of high school and felt God's calling of my life to SWU.
Since I have been here, God has taught me so many new and different things from developing individual character to serving as a leader.”
