SWU’s people make the differenceFor Jermaine Harris, Southern Wesleyan University is a major stepping-stone to God's calling on his life into ministry. At the urging of his mother and his pastor, Jermaine came to SWU after attending a two-year college in Georgia. “I got here and was kind of scared,” Jermaine recalled. But his basketball coach and others gave him the encouragement and push he needed. “I feel great about being here because I have a coach who cares about me. He’s going to be there pushing me and not letting me settle for less,” Jermaine added. He also gets encouragement from classmates and friends. He adds, “You get to go to chapel and learn about God." Jermaine also appreciates the supportiveness of his professors, the friends he’s made, and the fans who watch him on the basketball court. “Without these special people, I couldn’t make it,” he said. "I’m glad God put me in a Christian environment. There aren’t too many schools that give you that and I feel that Southern Wesleyan is a high quality place to learn.” |
