Easley, S.C.

SWU helped Grant realize her calling as a teacher.

"My success as a classroom teacher can be directly traced to the wonderful education I received from SWU's caring professors. I came to SWU knowing that I would be a teacher, but I did not know exactly what area of concentration to pursue. After some classroom observations and teacher education classes, I realized that I had indeed found my calling. The call to teach was undeniable; I was to become an English teacher in the secondary schools.

As the years have passed, I have always agreed with my teaching colleagues that SWU's teacher education program is strong. My professors were demanding; they wanted me to know that teachers needed to be well-prepared, well-rounded, and that any work less than one's very best was work that needed improvement. I am proud to be a graduate of SWU and am grateful for its profound impact on my teaching style, my teaching skills. Teaching is a unique ministry, and SWU empowered me to simultaneously teach character and content."
