It’s about growing

The time since Guy Howard transferred to Southern Wesleyan University as a member of the Warriors Baseball Team has been a time for growing.

It’s about relationships

“I think it’s been one of the best choices spiritually,” Guy said. “Over the past two or three semesters I’ve grown profoundly.” This has also been a time of building relationships with Guy’s teammates and friends, but mostly with Christ. Helping Guy along his spiritual journey have been his teammates and his involvement with Ignite, an on-campus group associated with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

It’s about the people at SWU

“The people stand out – the students, faculty and administration are very open and warm,” Guy said.

Guy, who is a senior majoring in Math Education, is also grateful for the influence of his professors in the Education program, saying that the school of Education does a good job of preparing you from every angle from how to teach to working with students on various levels.

I’ll go into a classroom and observe and do some teaching. I feel like we do a lot of that, which is good preparation.”

To anyone seeking a college or university, Guy gives this advice:

“I would say that if you’re looking for a close-knit community with an opportunity to grow and find yourself and the Lord. This would be a great place to go.”
