Admissions
To be considered for admission to the Adult & Graduate Studies (AGS) program at Southern Wesleyan, candidates must be at least 21 years of age and have had a minimum of two years of full-time work experience (M.Ed. applicants must have one year of full-time teaching experience). Additional admission requirements vary by degree program and may not be listed below.
Associate and Bachelor Degree Programs:
- Submission of a completed AGS application.
- $40 non-refundable application fee.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum high school cumulative grade point average of 2.0.
- Home school students must provide evidence of membership in an approved home school association and provide an official transcript with a 2.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale; otherwise, applicant must submit GED scores.
- Transfer students who have attended other universities must provide official transcripts from each school attended as well as an official high school transcript. Student must have earned a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA for all college work attempted.
- Admission to the University's bachelor degree programs requires completion of 60 or more credit hours that are approved for transfer to the student's selected degree program. Not all courses are approved for transfer.
- Submission of a writing sample (see Application for instructions).
- Evidence of current employment with two years of significant work experience.
- Appropriate work experience for those currently unemployed includes five years of significant work experience.
- For applicants for whom English is a second language, official TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper test), 213 (computer test) or equivalent evidence of proficiency in English.
- Satisfactory interview with designated committee or academic division, if required.
Masters Degree Programs:
- Submission of a completed AGS application.
- $50 non-refundable application fee.
- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A 2.7 cumulative grade point average on all undergraduate coursework or on the final 60 hours of undergraduate coursework.
- Official transcripts for all college-level course work attempted or completed, both undergraduate and graduate.
- Two letters of recommendation from persons qualified to judge the applicant's moral character, professional expertise, and capacity for graduate-level work.
- Submission of a writing sample (see Application for instructions). Not required for M.Ed. applicants.
- Evidence of current employment, two years of significant experience with eighteen undergraduate semester hours in business administration, management, human resource management, or marketing; or three years of managerial experience.
- Appropriate work experience for those currently unemployed includes five years of significant work experience and 18 undergraduate semester hours in business administration, management, human resource management, or marketing; or five years of managerial experience.
- A satisfactory score on the Graduate Record Exam, Miller Analogies Test or GMAT. (Graduates of Southern Wesleyan University holding a bachelor degree in business or management with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above on all course work or on the final 60 hours of undergraduate course work are not required to submit test scores).
- Applicants to the M.Ed. program must provide proof of teacher certification.
- For applicants for whom English is a second language, official TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper test), 213 (computer test) or equivalent evidence of proficiency in English.
- Satisfactory interview with designated committee or academic division, if required.
