How the Programs Work
Degree Programs
By attending classes one night each week along with a weekly study group meeting, qualified students can complete the associate degree in 30 months or less, complete major requirements for the Bachelor’s degree in approximately 22 months, or earn the Master’s degree in approximately 18 months.
The Associate’s Degrees
An Associate of Science in Business and an Associate of Science in Education degree are offered through STEP I and II for students with no college credit or who have a limited number of semester credit hours.
The Bachelor’s Degrees
Bachelor of Science degree-completion programs in management and business administration are offered at specific locations for students who have 60 or more semester credit hours on transcript.
The Master’s Programs
The Master of Business Administration, the Master of Science in Management, and the Master of Ministry degrees are offered for students who have earned a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. The Master of Education is offered for students holding a valid teaching certificate.
Adult and Graduate Studies programs are not open to traditional-aged college students.
Program Format
AGS programs are geared to how adults learn—with active participation, learning outside the classroom, and an emphasis on applying what you’re learning to your professional situation.
To make sure everyone is involved and engaged, most courses use a workshop-style format that is designed to generate class-wide discussions about ideas and allow you to evaluate the subject matter based on your practical experiences. With this format, teachers are no longer lecturers but facilitators who can offer new theories and perspectives for discussion.
Time Commitment
Workshops meet once a week for four hours. You’ll also meet with a study group of three to five students each week for four hours.
Workshop and study group attendance is mandatory. Because much of your learning occurs through in-class discussions with other students, attendance at each is critical for the classes to flow smoothly.
AGS modules
You’ll know exactly what to expect for each course and for each week. Every course uses a module that outlines the weekly assignments and projects, the overall goals of the course, and the steps you’ll take to fulfill the goals.
Additional Information
Because clear communication makes everyone’s life easier, each class has a representative to ensure everyone stays informed.
A lot of your learning takes place in study groups, which offer you the chance todiscuss the material and work on projects as part of a team.
