Local author, SWU alumnus and retired newspaper publisher Jerry Vickery presented a copy of his book, “The Forgotten Society of the Keowee River Valley,” to Bob Sears, director of library services at Southern Wesleyan University. Vickery’s book follows the life of Johnny Hester, whose family lived as sharecroppers from the 1930s through the 1950s in the Keowee River Valley before it was flooded by the lakes created by Duke Power Company. Vickery donated three copies to the university’s library.
