Students enrolled at McKissick Elementary School in Easley will be better equipped for successful learning, thanks to a $750 donation from Southern Wesleyan University in collaboration with a local business.

Bowers Office Supply of Easley, Southern Wesleyan’s adoption partner, contributed $250 in supplies to McKissick Elementary. The donation included thousands of sheets of paper, hundreds of crayons, pencils, paper and glue sticks – all items in high demand, according to Del Freitag, principal at McKissick.

“The donations from Southern Wesleyan and Bowers Office Supply will help families who would otherwise struggle to pay for these items, which tend to run out very quickly,” Freitag said.

“As Christians, we are instructed to assist those in our communities who need a helping hand,” said Jim Shelton, regional director- recruitment Services at Southern Wesleyan University in Central.

“I’m glad we’re able to provide these supplies for these families at McKissick and I’m glad Bowers Office Supply joined us in this effort,” Shelton added.

Shelton hopes to continue donating supplies to McKissick next year and to help other needy families in Pickens County with their children’s school supplies.
