For individuals seeking to advance in their careers, Southern Wesleyan University is launching new options geared toward attaining professional success in a variety of organizations.

The South Carolina Commission on Higher Education (CHE) has set a goal for 2030 to see an increase in the percentage of working-age population having workforce-relevant certificates and degrees. According to CHE, South Carolina stood at 41.8 percent as of 2015, and added that the state is making progress towards reaching this goal, but still lagging behind the regional and national averages. They estimate that 60 percent of Americans will need a college degree, workforce certificate, industry certification or other high-quality credential beyond high school.

Southern Wesleyan University is now offering several new professional development certificates for those wishing to attain advancement within healthcare administration, human resources, leadership, management, and project and quality management.

In response to the demands of an ever-changing field, Southern Wesleyan’s healthcare administration certificate program can help healthcare administration professionals gain competencies to become well-prepared for the American College of Healthcare Executive Certification and be ready to take advantage of fast-growing opportunities in administration.

The Human Resources certificate is for HR professionals looking to gain credibility and marketable skills in a fast-growing job market in human resource management. Southern Wesleyan’s program explores HR strategies that can be immediately applied to a variety of organizations.

The Leadership certificate is designed to help professionals motivate and strategically lead teams to attain higher goals within an organization. Individuals enrolled in this program will be able to fine-tune their leadership styles and advance in their management role to become high-capacity strategic leaders and change agents within their organizations.

The Management certificate helps individuals acquire the managerial skills essential to improving the structure and results of their organization, while preparing for higher-level executive positions. This certificate is ideal for managers desiring to make a larger impact on their organization’s effectiveness, entrepreneurs wishing to take their organization to the next level or leaders of churches and nonprofits in need of managerial and leadership expertise.

The Project and Quality Management certificate can help professionals acquire skills needed to plan, lead and execute strategic initiatives and projects to ensure success within their organization. Individuals can learn all relevant areas of project management with the unique benefit of incorporating key aspects of quality management within the same program.

Southern Wesleyan’s School of Business plans to develop additional certificates in the near future. For details, visit swu.edu/online/degrees, contact an admissions representative at or call 1-877-644-5556.
