University Singers recognized at Fort Jackson
University Singers Director Rev. Gail Kerstetter said it was an honor to worship with people who made huge sacrifices by leaving family, friends and home. At the end of the concert, the Installation Chaplain awarded Kerstetter and the singers Medals of Excellence. Kerstetter noted that the medals are rarely given out, adding that the singers demonstrated unity of team, leadership and character through the concert. Inscribed on the back of the medal in Latin are the words “For God and Country.” Eleven members of Kerstetter's family, including her son, currently serve in the military.
