Communication major follows God’s call to attend SWU

Communication major

"I fell in love with Southern Wesleyan University the first time I came to campus.

I was a sophomore in high school and was a member of a Wesleyan youth group. I had never heard of SWU until the youth group came to visit the campus for a CRAVE weekend, but the moment we drove into the parking lot, I felt like this was the college for me. I tried to fight it by looking into other schools, but God kept showing me this was the school He wanted me to attend."

Southern Wesleyan has been truly blessed:

  •  With record enrollment that tops 2,400, our facilities are overflowing.
  •  Along with our main campus, we now offer programs at five regional learning centers.
  •  Our students can choose from 40 major areas of study and four graduate degrees.
  •  Our student body blends cultures and ethnicities from every region of the United States and from the international community.
  •   The success of our graduates shows that a SWU education equips students with life skills in a way that no mass-market school can.

Blessed with such tremendous growth, our mission has not changed: we remain dedicated to educating and nurturing students as they seek God’s plan for their lives.

Your support is an investment in this mission, in Southern Wesleyan, and in the life achievements and spiritual growth of our students.

How sweet the sound

How sweet the sound

Southern Wesleyan University held a dedication ceremony for the Jennings Chapel Organ April 30 at Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center on the university’s campus in Central. The concert featured organists Jane Palmer Dill and Nathan Bryson as well as the university concert choir, performing sacred and classical selections. The organ became a reality, thanks to the support of the late Dr. Lowell Jennings, his family and others. Pictured, from left, are Janene Bryson, daughter; Laura Fipps Bryson, granddaughter-in-law; Scott Bryson, grandson; Nathan Bryson, grandson; Mary Faith Jennings, widow of Lowell Jennings; Donald Jennings, son; and Eddie Bryson, husband of Janene Bryson. The organ will be used for worship, concerts, recitals and campus celebration events, such as commencement. It was crafted by Cornel Zimmer Organ Builders of Denver, N.C.
