REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

Southern Wesleyan University seeks a Reference Librarian who will be responsible for providing reference services to all university clientele, with a focus on non-traditional students enrolled in evening degree programs at multiple locations. This is a permanent, full-time, exempt position which carries faculty status without rank or tenure. Position is available July 1, 2009.

Responsibilities

    The Reference Librarian will be expected to collaborate with other librarians and faculty for the provision of information literacy and to help develop information literacy tools and activities. Some evening and Saturday hours will be required. Additional responsibilities may be assigned depending on the abilities of the individual and the needs of the library.

Requirements

    Requirements include ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent; excellent collaborative and communication skills; and evidence of a Christian testimony. Preferred qualifications include experience in reference and information literacy in an academic library, as well as experience with non-traditional students and distance learning. Southern Wesleyan is a Christian liberal arts institution in the Wesleyan-Holiness theological tradition. Faculty and staff are expected to endorse the university's Mission and Statement of Faith, and to support the lifestyle expectations of the institution.
