Building
ties to one another and to the community, Southern Wesleyan
University students are constructing a Habitat for Humanity
house.
The structure,
located at 107 Joy Street in Liberty, is being built by
university volunteers through Habitat for Humanity of
Pickens County. As a sponsoring organization, Southern
Wesleyan has pledged to raise $15,000 toward the cost
of the house and supply volunteers for construction, according
to Southern Wesleyan University Chaplain Ken Dill. The
average Habitat for Humanity house requires 3,000 hours
of volunteer labor, he said.
The
house will be a home for an Easley waitress and her three
sons. The family is now living with relatives because
their mobile home was consumed with mold from water damage.
