Unlocking potential: Rees to speak at SWU

Fulfilling one’s purpose in life will be the topic presented by author Erik Rees when he visits Southern Wesleyan University’s campus Aug. 27.
The 7:30 p.m. event will be at Folger Fine Arts Auditorium on the Central campus of Southern Wesleyan University. It is free and the public is invited to attend.
Rees’ topic, “One and Only You,” is aimed at empowering individuals to fulfill their unique purpose in life by embracing their God-given gifts and abilities.
He is the author of S.H.A.P.E., a book that uses real-life stories to inspire readers through a series of challenges to uncover their God-given S.H.A.P.E. (spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality and experiences).
Rees’ book was used in this summer’s reading program for incoming freshmen, according to Beth Roe, director of retention and first year experience at Southern Wesleyan University.
Rees is pastor and leader of the Ministry and S.H.A.P.E. Discovery Teams at Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, Calif. He has spoken to a variety of audiences in corporate, educational and ministry settings nationwide. He also founded yourservingsweetspot.com, an online discovery experience targeted at helping people bring their S.H.A.P.E. and purpose to life.
