Sigma Tau Delta

This spring, Southern Wesleyan University initiated the Alpha Xi Lambda Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, an honorary English fraternity. Founded in 1924 by Professor Judson Owen at Dakota Wesleyan College, Sigma Tau Delta is now one of the largest members of the Association of College Honor Societies. Sigma Tau Delta’s purpose is to confer distinction upon students of English language and literature in undergraduate, graduate and professional studies. Sigma Tau Delta also recognizes the accomplishments of professional writers who have contributed to the fields of language and literature. The Alpha Xi Lambda Chapter began with 12 charter members. Dr. Paul Schleifer is the faculty sponsor.
