Southern Wesleyan seminar addresses AIDS research
AIDS
research and bioethics will be the focus of the “Ethical
Issues in AIDS Research” seminar at Southern Wesleyan
University.
Dr.
Carol Apt, associate professor of sociology at South Carolina
State University will present the seminar March 25 at
2:30 p.m. in the Mitchell Conference Room at Southern
Wesleyan University’s Central campus.
The
seminar is sponsored by a grant from the South Carolina
Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network and Experimental
Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. Southern Wesleyan
University was awarded a grant to host speakers on various
aspects of biomedical research from across the state.
The university is planning to offer three additional seminars
this spring.
"Dibetes as a Disease of Accelerated Aging"
by Dr. John Baynes, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry,
University of South Carolina, Columbia on Friday, April
2, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. in Ellenburg Lecture Hall.
"Mental
Retardation in South Carolina: A Cytogenetic Approach,"
by Dr. Barbara DuPont, Director, Cytogenetics Laboratory,
Greenwood Genetic Center on Friday, April 30, 2004, at
2:30 p.m. in Ellenburg Lecture Hall.
