Mobile Veteran’s Center coming to Southern Wesleyan University

Veterans and their dependents can find out more about services especially for them Sept. 28, 3 - 7 p.m. when the Mobile Vet Center comes to Southern Wesleyan University in Columbia.

According to Tammie Powell, regional director of Southern Wesleyan’s Columbia location, this collaborative event is aimed at helping veterans and their families in the community learn how to register and take advantage of the services they have earned through serving as military service members.

The mobile vet center is a 39-foot motor coach manned by Vet Center counselors and outreach workers and provides space for confidential non-medical readjustment counseling to combat veterans and their families.

“It is an honor for us to have the opportunity to meet your educational needs by fully participating in the VA Education Benefits programs,” said Donna Pittman, an admissions specialist with Southern Wesleyan. “Having grown up with my father in the Army and then marrying a Marine, I personally know and appreciate the sacrifices made by both service members and their families,” she added.

Southern Wesleyan University is located in Pinnacle Point, off I-77 near Farrow Road. For details, contact Tammie Powell at (803) 744-7981, ext. 5616, or e-mail tpowell@swu.edu.
