Southern Wesleyan University’s magazine goes digital
Focus, Southern Wesleyan University’s award-winning magazine, is now available online in an exciting new digital format.
Southern Wesleyan launched its first e-Focus issue June 30 in an effort to reach out to an increasing number of readers who rely on the Internet for information and entertainment. The new interactive version of Focus will continue to offer a high caliber of content in an engaging new format with links to interactive features.
“We are excited about introducing this new e-magazine to our alumni and friends,” said Janelle Beamer, director of communications at Southern Wesleyan. “The e-magazine is accessible through our website, www.swu.edu and we have received a great response from our readers. We hope people will subscribe online so we can be sure they receive our quarterly e-publication.”
Features of e-Focus include clickable links to additional content from www.swu.edu and a way for alumni to provide updates on happenings in their lives, such as births, weddings and job promotions. The magazine can be viewed in any web browser with no special software required. Readers can zoom in and out on pages, surf instantly to any part of the magazine, search for content, bookmark pages and print specific articles. The magazine can also be shared with family and friends by e-mail or through Facebook and Twitter.
Online versions will be published four times a year and e-mailed to inboxes around the world.
For readers who are either not online or prefer a traditional magazine, Focus will still be printed twice a year.
“We want to be sure all of our alumni can keep up with our good news,” said Joy Bryant, the university’s executive director of alumni and constituent relations. “By continuing to publish a printed version twice a year, we will maintain our important connections with our more traditional alumni.”
Focus has won many national and statewide awards, including a recent third place national award from the National Federation of Press Women. The magazine also received first place and second place awards in the 2011 Media Women of South Carolina contest.
The magazine can be downloaded from www.swu.edu/focus. For details about e-Focus, call 1-800-282-8798, ext. 5008.
