Title: assistant professor of education and coordinator of field studies
Topics:
Student assessment systems
Student assessment systems used in the school districts to maintain and monitor student achievement. South Carolina’s school districts began to use the MAP (Measurement of Academic Progress) assessment program to help teachers better analyze a plan instruction for their students. Professionally, Finley has attended several state and national conferences presented by leaders in the educational field where MAP testing was the center for instructional planning.
Project Based Instruction
In a student-centered classroom, students would be engaged in projects that would challenge them socially, enhance their problem solving skills and utilize their content knowledge in the academic subjects. With the speed of information accessible to our students, we need to provide learning environments that can engage and entice students to want more information. Finley has designed and implemented many such project-based curricula.
