Instructional Technology - Use of a variety of teaching tools to improve student learning. We usually think of computers and computer software when we think of instructional technology, but instructional technologies are not limited to computers in the classroom. Instructional technology describes all tools that are used for teaching and learning such as: cameras, CD players, PDAs, computer-based probes, calculators and electronic tools we have yet to discover.

Electronic Portfolios - Exploration of the benefits to using an electronic portfolio. With traditional portfolios, files, boxes and/or binders holding papers, cassettes, pictures and drawings would take up lots of space. With an electronic portfolio, information can be easily stored in a computer hard drive, floppy disc, CD or other media. Electronic portfolios not only take up little physical space, but can hold a great deal of information. Pictures, art work and writing samples can be all be scanned in and saved and students can collaborate with other.

Interactive Boards for Presentations - Using an interactive whiteboard (IWB) for displays that connect to a computer and projector. A projector projects the computer's desktop onto the board's surface where users control the computer using a pen or other device. Explore the use of the board in a variety of settings, including classrooms at all levels of education, in corporate board rooms and work groups, in training rooms for  professional sports, in broadcast studios and more.

NCATE and writing successful SPA reports - Explore how to write the dreaded Specialized Professional Area (SPA) reports for NCATE. Special focus is placed on the major secondary content areas—language arts, mathematics, physical education—as well as early childhood, elementary and special education.
