Former
Southern Wesleyan University president John Newby and
his wife, Becky, watch as the name of the Education Center
on the university’s campus in Central is revealed.
The education center was named the John M. Newby Education
Center in honor of Newby’s service to the university. |
Southern
Wesleyan University has named its education center in
honor of former university president Dr. John Newby. Right,
Dr. Gloria Bell, academic vice president and dean, addresses
the university crowd at the naming ceremony for the John
M. Newby Education Center as Newby and his wife, Becky,
look on. The new Education Center includes state-of-the-art
classrooms as well as a methods classroom that is a model
of a typical public school classroom. About half of Southern
Wesleyan University’s students are education majors.
The university’s Adult and Graduate Studies program
also uses the building. The AGS program offers undergraduate
and graduate degrees in business and education in an accelerated
format designed to be convenient for working adults.
