SWU winter baccalaureate

Hubbards
End-of-semester events at Southern Wesleyan University included Baccalaureate Chapel on Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. in Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center. Above at right, Dr. David Spittal, Southern Wesleyan University president, congratulates Jessica Hubbard, far left, after baccalaureate services Dec. 10 at Newton Hobson Chapel. Also pictured are her parents, Perry and Nancy Hubbard. She graduated Summa Cum Laude, receiving a bachelor of science degree in special education during winter graduation ceremonies as the university's campus in Central, S.C. Rev. Steve Stanley, pastor of First Wesleyan Church in Greenville, S.C., delivered the baccalaureate sermon. He encouraged the students to become servants to others, "living for God for the good of others." Rev. Stanley serves as a member of the board of administration of the South Carolina District of The Wesleyan Church. The university's Baccalaureate Chapel includes a "Ceremony of the Servants" and a challenge for graduates of the university to find ways to serve the needs of people throughout the world. Stanley
