Mark your calendars for Nov. 3 and join Southern Wesleyan University for an afternoon of clay shooting at beautiful McConnell Hall Plantation in Anderson.

Clay shooting will take place on two courses – the Plantation course and Farm Pond course. The Plantation Course will host the Sporting Clay competition, which will consist of 30 shots. Shooters with the two highest scores will win prizes.

“This will be an exciting and challenging course,” said Tony Payne, Southern Wesleyan’s associate vice president for development.

“The Farm Pond Course will be a fun shoot with clays being launched over water and shooters get unlimited shots on this course. The Farm Pond course will offer a variety of interesting shots in a beautiful, rustic setting,” Payne continued, adding, “This isn’t just another run-of-the-mill sporting clay event; we want this to be an experience. The Southern Sporting Clay Classic will provide shooters with an enjoyable afternoon filled with great shooting, beautiful scenery, an excellent meal and great prizes.”

McConnell Hall Plantation offers great views and angles for clay shooting and the location makes the event even more attractive. After the shoot, guests will enjoy oyster appetizers and a Southern Lowcountry Boil dinner.

“This unique experience is limited to 40 shooters. Reserve your tickets now. To add to the excitement, one shooter will walk away with a brand new gun,” said Payne.

Funds raised from the Southern Sporting Clay Classic will enhance inventive learning opportunities for Southern Wesleyan’s students, benefiting the SWU Promise Fund. The Promise Fund supports student scholarships and areas of greatest need for the University.

Sponsors for the Southern Sporting Clay Classic are Johnny Ross Insurance Agency – Palmetto Insurance, First Citizens Bank and Carolinas Wealth Management.

McConnell Hall Plantation is located at 4040 Midway Rd. in Anderson.

Check-in is at 1 p.m. and shooters will take to the course from 1:45 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. The dinner starts at 5:45 p.m., followed by an awards presentation.

The registration fee is just $125 for individual shooters. There’s a $25 deposit (non-refundable). Additional tickets for non-shooting guests are available for $50 each, and dinner is included.
