New Beginnings

by Natasha Dongell on January 06, 2021

I know new year resolutions have a bad reputation, but I still love a new beginning! I love the opportunity to pause and reflect, to evaluate and course correct. I love the chance to dream and consider my destination. My thoughts, habits, and actions are taking me somewhere. Is it where I want to go? How is my heart, and where is God growing me, stretching me, refining me...?

The disciple matures downward. We don’t climb the ladder of success, but mature onto our knees with serving towels draped over our arms and holes worn into our gospel fitted shoes.

This year I plan to keep my hand to the plow. I plan to keep leaning into prayer... I’m still trying to discover it with new meaning and passion in my life. I plan to keep showing up and serving beyond my natural capacity, trusting that “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). I have some big goals, but most importantly, “He must become greater. I must become less” (John 3:30).

Our world needs a whole lot of Jesus right now. It’s up to us to mature downward and learn the surrendered life that makes room for His living waters to flow!

Happy new year, dear friends! May it be one of deep surrender and open hearts that say yes Jesus, come!
