BA in Media Communications

What is the Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication?

Southern Wesleyan University’s Bachelor of Arts in Media Communication degree offers students the opportunity to explore and understand the role of a person of faith in today’s media-saturated world. Students are given the opportunity to discover their personal communication style and how to faithfully grow in community by adapting to the communication styles of others.

What do students enrolled in the Media Communication program do?

As a Media Communication major, you will learn to create digital multimedia projects, give professional presentations while incorporating appropriate use of technology, and critically examine media messages found in film, popular music and other media outlets. Additionally, you will be able to understand the complex dynamics of the communication process and learn how to create content for and design websites. Also, as a part of the program, you will intern at communications-related businesses and organizations.

Is this major right for you?

You might consider a Media Communications major if you enjoy writing creatively and effectively, desire to communicate effectively to a large audience through electronic media, are interested in using equipment in a television, radio or recording studio, or want to learn how to create an attractive, effective website. If you like to speak and are comfortable with using equipment to edit and produce video or audio recordings, this program could be a good fit for you.
