The Study of English

A major in English will bring the world to you:

Travel back in time to the campfires of the Anglo-Saxons.

Travel forward in time to experience the thrills of the undiscovered future.
Travel today's world to find out what's happening in other places through the literature of Nigeria, Russia, Germany, France, Spain, Colombia, Norway, South Africa--and the whole world.
A major in English will help you understand people:

You'll become friends with centuries-old characters who will make you laugh, cry, and think.

You'll learn about the people of the past and appreciate the people of the present.

And you'll even discover your own independent voice and creative style.
A major in English will also develop your communication skills:

  • writing
  • speaking
  • visual design
  • listening
  • thinking
  • problem solving

You'll discover that the benefits will be boundless in the "real world."
