P.B. Wood Golf Tournament set for Oct. 2

    Golfers will tee off at Smithfields Country Club in Easley on Oct. 2 during the annual P.B. Wood Golf Tournament.


    Southern Wesleyan University’s annual P.B. Wood Golf Tournament will tee off on Oct. 2 at Smithfields Country Club in Easley with First Citizens Bank serving as the Title Sponsor, along with the John Ross Insurance Agency as the Event Sponsor.

    The tournament raises funds for Southern Wesleyan University’s Promise Fund, which supports student scholarships and the areas of greatest need for the University. This event is named in honor of Dr. Paul Baker Wood, a noted psychologist and Southern Wesleyan University professor emeritus. Wood will be participating in the day’s activities as will longtime emcee, WYFF News 4’s Dale Gilbert.

    Prizes this year will include two hole in one opportunities: a new car and a $10,000 prize. The winning team will be presented with Mizuno irons. Second and third place teams will win Mizuno drivers and sand wedges. Participants will receive a long sleeve Warrior T-shirt and can win one of many exciting door prizes.

    This captain’s choice tournament has slots for 36 four-man teams. The spaces go fast, so please sign up quickly if you wish to participate. The fee is $500 for a team or $125 per player. Individual players are welcome to sign up and will be placed with a team. This entrance fee covers greens fees, cart fees, meals, mulligans and other prizes. There will also be a discount for members of the clergy and SWU faculty/staff.
