Glorias and Spice Masterworks Concert with SWU Concert Choir and Orchestra
April 22, 3 p.m.
(free – no ticket)
What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon! The SWU Concert Choir will be performing Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria and John Rutter’s Gloria with orchestra. These two works provide a stark and “glorious” contrast of two styles using the same text. With Vivaldi from the Baroque period and Rutter from the 20th Century, these two pieces exhibit the influence this text has had on composers over the centuries. Providing even greater contrast in the afternoon will be P.D.Q. Bach’s The Seasonings (S. 1½ tsp.) also with orchestra. P.D.Q Bach, the oddest of J. S. Bach’s 20-odd children, is known for his unorthodox and comic flights of music fancy. The concert will be held in the Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center. Admission is free. For details, call (864) 508-0555.

The concert will be held in the Newton Hobson Chapel and Fine Arts Center. Admission is free. For details, call (864) 508-0555.
