Southern Wesleyan University announces the appointment of Earlena Brown as regional director for the university’s Charleston location.

“I am thrilled to be leading Southern Wesleyan University’s location in Charleston,” Brown said. “It is wonderful to be able to give working adults an option for earning college degrees. I am passionate about education and I am so pleased to be able to share that passion with the Charleston community.”

Brown became regional director Aug. 18, but is no stranger to Southern Wesleyan University or the Charleston area. She worked for the university 2001-06, first as site assistant and then as student services coordinator.

She was then employed at Grand Canyon University recruiting undergraduate and graduate candidates for its College of Education and, later, as enrollment manager, gaining additional experience in student recruiting. Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in special education at Lynchburg College and received her master’s degree in clinical counseling from Webster University.

Brown is pursuing her doctorate degree in psychology through Northcentral University.  She lives in Summerville and attends Summerville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Southern Wesleyan University, founded in 1906, prepares students for leadership and graduate study in such fields as religion, education, music, business, medicine, law and a variety of civic and social service professions. Southern Wesleyan offers 41 degree programs in the areas of business, education and ministry. The university’s main campus is in Central and there are regional learning centers across the state, in locations such as Greenville, Columbia, Charleston and North Augusta. Classes are also offered in Spartanburg and Greenwood.
