The Omicron Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society at Southern Wesleyan University inducted new members during spring graduation receptions held across the state this past month.

    Southern Wesleyan University established the Omicron Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society in 2010. Alpha Sigma Lambda, which focuses on the academic achievements of adult students, was established through the efforts of Tracy Landrith, a graduate of the university’s Adult and Graduate Studies program. Requirements for membership are a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2; have a GPA among the highest 10 percent of qualified students; submit a one-time, lifetime membership fee; have completed a minimum of 24 semester hours at Southern Wesleyan University; and to be at least 25 years old.

    Founded in 1945, Alpha Sigma Lambda is dedicated to the advancement of scholarship and recognizes high scholastic achievement in adult students. It strives to provide a stimulating impetus to highly motivated students in continuing higher education and recognizes the special achievements of adults who accomplish academic excellence.
