A university degree for the co-vocational Christian
About the CoVo Religion Track
The Division of Religion at SWU recognizes a growing need for multi-skilled pastors in ministry and ministry-minded individuals in the workforce. According to a recent survey by Barna, more than half (55%) of U.S. pastors had another career before going into ministry and 26% remain bi-vocational, currently holding some other kind of role in addition to pastoring. The CoVo program is designed for the co-vocational Christian: the student looking to be an effective minister in both the church and the workplace.
Religion majors in the CoVo program will be equipped with the essential academic competencies for Wesleyan ordination with a major in Christian Ministry, Youth and Children Ministry, or Christian Worship; as well as workplace skills and experience offered through another major of their choice (see below):
