Baseball great visits SWU
Former Major League Baseball star Darryl Strawberry told of how he accepted Christ and overcame substance abuse during The Road to Recovery Through Christ Opioid Summit, organized by Behavioral Health Services of Pickens County and Steppin' It Up Coalition, held in The Founders Aug. 12. Amidst strict social distancing guidelines, guests heard from Strawberry and others at the event.
The goal of the summit was to educate Pickens County church leaders about the opioid problem, as well as to increase membership in the Steppin’ It Up Coalition. The coalition aims to provide Pickens County youth with the knowledge, motivation and support they need to combat the temptations of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.
