Southern Wesleyan University recently received a $5,000 gift from the Duke Energy Foundation to benefit the university's Regional Science Fair. Pictured from left: Gary Carr, special assistant to the president for church and donor relations; Staci Johnson, professor of biology and fair organizer; Mike Wilson, Duke Energy’s district manager Pickens and Greenville counties; Mary Costello, executive director for development and Todd Voss, Southern Wesleyan University president.

Through its foundation and its volunteers, Duke Energy continues to play a vital role in the Regional Science Fair. As the Science Fair enters its sixth year, student participation continues to grow, according to Johnson, who expects 200 students from Anderson, Oconee and Pickens counties to participate in the event, scheduled for March 15, 2013.
