Dr. Barker Delivered Commencement Address to Wesleyan Christian Academy

CENTRAL, S.C. — Dr. Bill Barker, President of Southern Wesleyan University, delivered the commencement address to the 2025 graduating class of Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, North Carolina. The commencement ceremony was held on Friday, May 23, 2025, on the campus of High Point University. The academy graduated 94 students who have been awarded $6.8 million in merit scholarships.
Dr. Barker told the graduates, “Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, and God has raised Him from the dead. There is no greater life than a life of following Jesus Christ.” Further, he encouraged the students, “There will be serious ups and downs, but through it all, the steadfast love of the Lord is with you all the time, whether you realize it or not.”
Following the event, Dr. Barker stated, “It was an honor to address the graduates of Wesleyan Christian Academy as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. This school does an exemplary job preparing the hearts and minds of students to live out their callings, pursue higher education and employment, and be ambassadors for Christ in their communities. I pray that each graduate would use their unique, God-given abilities to change the world and make a lasting impact for the Kingdom.”
