P.B. Wood Golf Tournament set for Oct. 7 at Smithfields

    Southern Wesleyan University’s annual P.B. Wood Golf Tournament will tee off on Oct. 7 at Smithfields Country Club in Easley, presented by the John Ross Insurance Agency.

    The tournament raises funds for student scholarships. This event is named in memory of Dr. Paul Baker Wood, a noted psychologist and Southern Wesleyan University professor emeritus. WYFF News 4’s Dale Gilbert will participate in the tournament and emcee the awards presentation.

    Additional tournament sponsors are Absolute Technologies LLC, Miller HVAC Service, Inc., Courtyard Marriott, Alive Wesleyan Church, Best Western Plus – Clemson, Pepsi, Engineered Sleep, Golf USA - Anderson and Founders Federal Credit Union.

    Prizes this year will include two hole in one opportunities: a new car and a $10,000 prize. The winning team will be presented a $300 gift certificate (per person) to Golf USA. Second and third place teams will win Mizuno drivers and sand wedges. Participants will receive a long sleeve Warrior T-shirt and can win one of many exciting door prizes.

    This captain’s choice tournament has slots for 36 four-person teams. The spaces go fast, so please sign up quickly if you wish to participate. The fee is $500 for a team or $125 per player. Individual players are welcome to sign up and will be placed with a team. This entrance fee covers greens fees, cart fees, meals, mulligans and other prizes. There will also be a discount for members of the clergy and SWU faculty/staff.
