CENTRAL, S.C. — Southern Wesleyan University Baseball proudly honored 21 veterans and active-duty service members during its Military Appreciation Game on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at C. The day began with a pre-game ceremony that included:

  • Presentation of Colors by Daniel High School Air Force JROTC
  • Pledge of Allegiance led by SWU student and South Carolina National Guard member Miasia Mobley
  • National Anthem performed by the Southern Wesleyan University Singers
  • Welcome remarks from university leadership
  • Invocation by Chaplain Mike Shannon
  • Armed Forces Medley, sung live by the University Singers as honored veterans took their places on the field
  • Ceremonial First Pitch
  • Check presentation to Upstate Warrior Solution, a nonprofit serving veterans and their families across the Upstate

“It was an honor to recognize and celebrate the brave men and women who serve our country,” said Donna Pittman, Co-Director of the Warriors CARE Center. “This event is one way we can show our deep appreciation and bring our community together to support those who have sacrificed so much.”

In total, the university raised $500 to benefit Upstate Warrior Solution.

The game followed last month’s announcement that Southern Wesleyan University has received the Military Friendly® Gold designation for 2025–2026, proudly demonstrating the university’s longstanding commitment to serving military and veteran students.
