Southern Wesleyan University Welcomes Dr. John Oswalt for Phaup Holiness Lecture Series

CENTRAL, SC — Southern Wesleyan University will welcome John Oswalt, distinguished professor of Old Testament at Asbury Theological Seminary, as the featured speaker for the University’s Phaup Holiness Lecture Series on Tuesday, March 3.

Dr. Oswalt will deliver four chapel messages as part of the series and will also host a special lunch and lecture for area pastors, ministry leaders, friends, and members of the campus community. The luncheon event will begin at 11:45 a.m. in The Founders – University Dining Commons. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

A respected Old Testament scholar and ordained United Methodist minister, Dr. Oswalt is the author of 16 books, including the acclaimed two-volume Isaiah commentary in the New International Commentary on the Old Testament. He is widely known for his scholarship on holiness theology and biblical studies.

The Phaup Holiness Lecture Series highlights specific themes that are central to Southern Wesleyan University’s heritage and commitment to spiritual formation. Dr. Oswalt’s visit will focus on the biblical understanding of holiness and its relevance for the Church today.
