Southern Wesleyan’s University Singers Collaborate on SWU Alum Tanner Lambert’s New Album

CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan University is proud to announce a special collaboration between the University Singers and SWU alumnus Tanner Lambert on his newly released album, My Help, available now on streaming platforms including Apple Music and Spotify.

This past May, the University Singers recorded background vocals for the track “Is He Worthy,” a powerful anthem made popular by Chris Tomlin and Andrew Peterson. The song’s message — that Christ remains worthy despite the brokenness of the world — deeply resonated with both Lambert and the University Singers.

Lambert, who traveled as a member of the University Singers from 2011 to 2015 and continues to perform with them as an alumnus, shared: “I knew from a very young age the Lord was calling me into music ministry, and my time at SWU did nothing but affirm that calling. The heart for ministry that this group helped me cultivate is a testament to God's grace and mercy.”

Born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia, Tanner Lambert began singing at the age of five. Influenced by artists like The Gaither Vocal Band and other Southern Gospel performers, music has always been a central part of his life. Active in his church choir and community events, Lambert felt a call to ministry early on. He pursued that calling at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, SC, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Church Music and Performance.

During his time at SWU, Lambert traveled the East Coast and abroad with the University Singers, ministering to deployed troops, public schools, and churches — experiences that deepened his passion for music and ministry. In 2018, he settled in East Tennessee, where he began performing at Biblical Times Dinner Theater and recorded his first album, When Healing Comes, in January 2019.

Lambert is married to his wife, Reganne, and together, they are raising three children. They remain active in their church, Purpose Church, where they continue to serve in music ministry.

Dr. Amber James, Director of Choral Activities at SWU, added: “When Tanner approached me about collaborating with the University Singers on his album, I didn’t hesitate for a moment. His decision to involve the next generation of University Singers is a beautiful example of his gifts coming full circle.”

The album My Help reflects Lambert’s journey through seasons of change and spiritual growth, featuring original songs and beloved classics. This collaboration with current students highlights the enduring legacy of SWU’s music ministry and the strong bonds within its community.
