According to the U.S. Census Bureau, York County, which currently has a population of 250,000, is projected to grow to around 300,000 by 2025.

Located just south of Charlotte, a key regional business hub in the Southeast and North Carolina’s largest city, York County is part of one of the nation’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas and is currently the seventh largest county in South Carolina.

Starting in August, Southern Wesleyan University will have a focused recruitment presence in York County and the surrounding communities.

Southern Wesleyan University is fully aware of the continued population growth occurring in the Southeast. The university currently has education centers across South Carolina in Charleston, Columbia, Greenville and North Augusta and has been providing inventive learning opportunities for adults in a faith-filled community for nearly 40 years.

Diane Todd, who has several years of higher education experience serving York County, was selected by Southern Wesleyan as corporate representative for this dynamic area.  Prior to coming to SWU, Todd served as the site coordinator for Columbia College’s A2B program at York Technical College. Additionally, she has served as a proctor at York Technical College and has been an instructor for the college success course.

According to Chad Peters, Vice President for Enrollment Management, “Diane brings with her strong connections at York Technical College and networks from across the region.  As the Corporate Representative, Diane will expand the reach of SWU by fostering a strong network with schools, health care providers, manufacturing, not for profit organizations, and technology colleges in the greater York County region.”

Southern Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ. For details about degree programs, visit swu.edu.
