SWU Hosts 52 Ed.D. Candidates for Annual Summer Residency
CENTRAL, S.C. – At the end of June, Southern Wesleyan University hosted 52 Ed.D. candidates from the Department of Education’s online Doctor of Education program.
The summer residency allows online doctoral students to meet and network in person, continue their education, and grow in their relationship with Christ. Students consistently report that their time on campus is uplifting and encouraging.
While on campus for the week-long residency, students focused on research design, collaborative projects, assessments, and presentations.
Dr. Nathan Street, Assistant Professor of Graduate Education, said, “For me, the best part of the Residency, echoed by most students, was real-time, live connection with one another and professors. While it was, indeed, a significant financial and time commitment for working professionals, many of whom are school administrators as well as spouses and parents, they all indicated how invaluable the experience was. It was a joy, honor, and privilege to sit down and discuss life, research, trials, triumphs, and dreams with my students."
This year’s residency employed a highly effective series of intensive sessions to prepare students to compose substantive, quality dissertations highlighting Christ, themselves, their families, and the university. SWU doctoral students represent world-class Christian higher education.
