Southern Wesleyan University has gained the support of Courtyard Marriott Clemson, a winning combination that will benefit SWU and Warrior Athletics.

Southern Wesleyan’s athletic department attained a valuable corporate sponsorship agreement with the hotel that will further enhance the student-athlete experience for the 17 varsity Warriors teams.

As a result of this sponsorship, the university will be able to purchase items including but not limited to: soccer goals, game day benches, a tarp to protect portions of the track for events at the field, an infield tarp for Varsity Field (home of the softball team), and sideline chairs for Tysinger Gymnasium.

“This partnership continues to show that the local community is excited to join TeamSWU and all that is happening here,” said Chris Williams, Southern Wesleyan’s director of athletics. Williams is confident that all teams will benefit from this partnership in the long-term.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for us and for SWU,” said Erin Edwards, general manager of Courtyard by Marriott Clemson. “We’re in a pretty dynamic area and where we can make an impact locally is what we want to do.”

Warrior Athletics consists of 17 varsity teams, two JV teams, 266 student-athletes, numerous coaches and support staff – all working to become”One Body” (Romans 12:5).

“Warrior Athletics’ mission is to integrate a Christian approach to faith, living, learning and competition as we represent God and the university,” Williams said. “Each day, our coaches and staff strive to provide opportunities for spiritual development, academic success and athletic excellence.”

Southern Wesleyan University is a Christ-centered, student-focused learning community devoted to transforming lives by challenging students to be dedicated scholars and servant-leaders who impact the world for Christ. For details about degree programs, go online to swu.edu.
