Renee Sims, the former secretary for Couseling and Health Services at Southern Wesleyan University, passed away peacefully on July 5 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.

“She was a dear friend,” said Lori Herron, university nurse. “Renee was kind, she always put others needs before her own. Her love for Jesus was evident in everything she did.”

Sims was a daughter of Robert Eugene Aspray and the late Hazel Garrison Aspray. She was a graduate of both Greenville High School and North Greenville College. Sims was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church, where she was active in children’s ministry.

Sims is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steven Sims; her two children, William Alexander Sims and Stefanie Sims Morgan, her husband Seth and their expected son; her siblings, Janice T. Shirley, Joanie Treadway, Robert K. Aspray; her twin brother and Ophelia A. Davis; and her mother-in-law, Patsy Sims Grimes.

Funeral services were held at Oakdale Baptist Church July 8 with Rev. David Blizzard officiating. A private family committal service was held at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
